Hi! Iโm J.M. Blooms ๐ธ
I write thrillers inspired by the intersection of nature, power, and the hidden systems shaping our world.
Before turning to fiction, I spent more than 18 years in NYC finance and nearly a decade building technology products. I also teach marketing at Carnegie Mellon University and have traveled to all seven continents, with Antarctica under my feet in 2022.
Iโve always been fascinated by the invisible forces that shape our lives: money, power, nature, human resilience, and the choices people make under pressure. Those fascinations became stories.
I serve as a moderator at Killer Nashville (2026), a judge for the International Thriller Writers Thriller Awards (Best Series 2025 and Best Standalone 2026), and a judge for the Killer Nashville Silver Falchion Awards 2026.
My current thriller, Floodline, is a fast-paced financial suspense novel where nature and power collide, inspired by real-world experience, unforgettable places, and the resilient people determined to do the right thing.
Here youโll find the stories behind the story.
โ๏ธ Writing Life โ Craft, revision, and what Iโm learning on the long road to publication.
๐ Floodline โ Behind the scenes of the book being made: research, obsessions, and the world taking shape.
๐ Dear Reader โ Personal letters on creative life, curiosity, and whatever is pulling at my attention.
Youโll also occasionally meet Maxine, my adventure-loving mini Aussiedoodle and loyal writing companion, who firmly believes every good writing day should include a walk, a nap, and a lot of snacks.
If any of that sounds like your kind of journey, Iโd love to have you along.
